This is the second book, after the Talisman. I loved this book as well. I think I'm just a fan of the Territores in general.

Idk man, I know that it’s really hard to write the sequel to a hero’s journey and that you can’t replicate it, but is this really the best we got? I was just so lost for the first act, and it felt like there was so little of substance that really was happening and not being postulated. The floating perspective brought me out of the book every time. I know it’s all subjective but damn I just found this so meaningless and boring. If it ends up being part of a trilogy I might end up looking back more kindly but for now damn.

Had to change edition for audio version, but didn’t want to lose my Journal entries
A solid follow up to The Talisman. But very vastly different. I have to say, I liked The Talisman better, due to the more fantastical elements of the story. Black House is much darker and very disturbing at parts. The story dragged for the first quarter for me, and it didn’t really pick up steam until almost the half way part. I did enjoy seeing Jack as an adult and the addition of the character Henry was my favorite part of the book.
I loved the first book so much I decided to read the second, regardless of its size. It was better than the first by miles.
I give this five stars for creativity, suspense, horror and all the other awesome descriptions I can come up with.
If you're a horror fan, read this book.

Quick, compelling read. Well written. Typical Stephen King issues (male gaze, all white characters except for the stereotypically written non white characters, copaganda). Tonally different from The Talisman, less fantasy and much darker, dealing with child abduction/torture. Reading this as part of Dark Tower (though I read Talisman when I was in my teens and loved it) and it does seem to play heavily into the DTverse. Excited to see how this series wraps up… so I can move on with my life. I need a break from these huge multi-novel epics.
