Excruciating first half, and I was constantly annoyed by the first person plural narration. The ending was really good, but I don’t know if I would want to reread the 600 pages before it.

Straub and King finish their two part Sawyer saga with Black House, a horror thriller with some great scares and interesting characters. With so many tie ins, Jack’s fight with the Fisherman sometimes reads as Dark Tower fan fiction, but still manages to be compelling on its own. The ideas of identity, heroism, and remembering the parts of our past that scare us the most, all blend well together.
