I dunno. People are saying how this book was full of suspense and terror and a bunch of other things that it simply was not. At all. It was slow and boring. This book didn't feel like a work of Stephen King. At least it was short, though. And Shawshank Prison was mentioned so that was neat.

I wonder if Stephen King doesn't like [a:Barbara Kingsolver|3541|Barbara Kingsolver|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1350499031p2/3541.jpg]. He made a crack at her.

Unfortunately it just wasn't it for me. It felt like it had went too fast without any real development. Then had a erupt ending that did not give any real satisfaction.

I also was expecting that the story to be 200 pages, not a 'A Good Marriage' to be only 100 pages of the book and the extra content book be twice the length. I had to create a new edition to just include this book. I had no interest in reading 1922.

This was a pretty good book - I liked the premise, and it made me wonder what I would do in her place.
I wasn’t a huge fan of the narrator, though. She didn’t sound like a horrified wife who’s just discovered her husband is this terrible monster, she sounds more like she’s kindly disappointed. I thought that was really odd and didn’t fit the circumstances.
I liked the ending, but in real life, I’d prefer he went to prison. The victims’ family members deserve to know no matter how old they are (thought that was a weird excuse to give in the book).
All in all, good short story. Hope the movie is just as good!

Might be because the main plot point reminds me of another thriller, which was longer, more suspenseful and did not reveal the contents of the figurative box until later into the story —
SpoilerKarin Slaughter's Pretty Girls
— but this felt anti-climactic. The familiarity of the reveal made the story seem predictable and a little flat.

I did warm up to Darcy's character, and enjoyed the scenes where she is faced with her husband after discovering his secret. Well-written but all in all, not for me.
