If someone could tell you important things about your future - even potentially how & when you die, would you want them to?

B̷R̷I̷N̷G̷ ✨ 𝗕𝗢𝗥𝗥𝗢𝗪 ✨ B̷Y̷P̷A̷S̷S̷

Joel has been cursed with a special gift since his childhood - the ability to dream about things that would happen to his loved ones. Sometimes those dreams are incredibly banal; sometimes they are worth noting but not life altering; and sometimes they have the ability to change the very fabric of not only Joel's life, but all of those in his orbit.

This was a really interesting story and made for great conversation through my instagram Book Club. Would we want to know when we die? Could we stay in a romantic relationship with someone if they knew and we didn't want to know? How do you have a normal life with all the information you know?

I thought it was super interesting that this was written as though it was real - he's gone to doctors, he's considering working with neurologists. I did think it was more of Joel's story than that of Joel & Callie's relationships; even her POV is mostly centered around Joel, including when she's thinking about things in her own life (how would this impact Joel, etc). I don't necessarily think the story suffered for that, but it's not exactly what I was expecting going into it.

That being said, even though I knew going into this it would be probably have a lot of fairly downer moments, it, uh, well, had a fair amount of downer moments. The mundane nature of a majority of the book (just Joel & Callie living their everyday lives) almost made the sad parts hurt more, because it felt like you were right there next to them.

My first Holly Miller book was "What Might Have Been," and while I liked The Sight of You, if you're new to Holly Miller I'd suggest What Might Have Been first because I LOVED that one (has Sliding Doors / TJR - Maybe In Another Life vibes)!
