Another great volume! This volume has some great worldbuilding moments and builds off of some assumptions and hints that have been given throughout the series. I cannot wait for the next volume as this series continues to have great arcs with fantastic characters.

I knew it was coming (the hints were pretty obvious) but dang. That reveal still got me. I want so much more information about why the Empress Dowager chose to do that.

Baby Jinshi was so cute…The way he would cry over his “lost” toys. Poor thing.

I love that Jinshi’s mother is giving him advice about Mao Mao. Cute.
