I read this for school a couple of years ago and I decided to reread it and I don't remember it being so short but I appreciate it a lot more than most novels we take at school. This was so dark and I loved it!

A wonderful juxtaposition of the “old” and New Woman which emerged in the Victorian era. Steveson’s wife, Fanny, may have been an inspiration for the themes explored through Hyde and Jekyll. Characterizations such as “white and comely” for Jekyll to the “dark hairy” for Hyde speaks volumes to the scare that was associated with the new woman.
