This is a very well build up story which I read it twice in this year. The first time I read I wasn't sure what the the story all about, of course I didn't get into the story. So I decided to read it again with focus while reading not to miss something like before.

Oh wow. The way this is written is so beautiful and yet technical. It is everything an old fashioned Sci-fi mystery should be and it is a classic for very good reason! The description in this book is delectable and the way each character is portrayed is intricate and yet effortless. The story is so full of torment but it is also so very mysterious and heartfelt. It amazes me how such a big story is written in less than 100 pages. I absolutely adore this edition too, so beautiful! I will definitely be reading it again!

Obviously great although I wish it got to the meat of the story quicker and spent less time with Utterson- I’ll never understand the gothic trope of having your story narrated by someone totally dull who was a spectator of the interesting things happening, rather than just letting us be in the head of the person the interesting things are happening to.

I read this as a teenager, back then I liked the story but couldn't appreciate the depth of it.
When I finished reading it this time, it reminded a quote by Nietzsche "if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you"

I liked the actual story and the next two short stories but the third one wasn't great and the last one was so awful and boring to read, I truly don't understand what I read, was it incomplete?? It was just so annoying to read and I can't believe it was longer than the main story
