I enjoyed this overall and think it’s worth a read. There were parts of the story that I really, really loved and was surprised by, but I wish we could have seen a little bit more
of the relationship between Libby and Dylan. It felt like a lot of them becoming friends and falling in love happened in scenes that weren’t in the book or were just mentioned in passing. I just wish we could have seen a little more!
This book was also much sadder than I anticipated, but there was a lot of hope and joy throughout that was a good balance for the sad and bittersweet parts.

I listened to the audio book of this on NetGalley Shelf, but often found myself stopping what I was doing to listen and concentrate. Protagonist Libby, is a long-suffering, people-pleaser who allows her controlling boyfriend, mother and sister make decisions for her. Meeting elderly, dementia-sufferer Frank on the 88 bus in London, sparks an adventure, a quest for Frank, for Libby, Frank's carer, Dylan and her new-found friends. There are plenty of obstacles and bumps in the road, not all navigated with ease. Whilst Frank's dementia sadly progresses, his and Dylan's support help her break free of those trying to control her life, finding her own route to happiness. The characters are wonderful, the pace was just right and there was sadness as well as joy. This is a wonderful uplifting, emotional, found family tale of making your way in the world with the help of unexpected friends.

This book swooped in at the end of the year & stole my heart!! I am obsessed with the characters, Frank is so sweet & I loved getting invested in his story! Libby was such a great protagonist, I loved seeing her relationships grow & changed. Dylan. Is. The. Cutest!! I’m so happy with the ending as well. This is on par with Lovely War for me. So sweet.
