I liked this book, didn't love it. Could have used a better editor as Temple Black goes off in different directions frequently. I know she was an amazing child actor, but I have a hard time believing she remembered so much of her early life in such detail. The devotion to her parents is also unbelievable, considering they squandered her fortune.

I've always wanted to know more about "America's sweetheart" and I am happy to say I do now. Shirley has lived quite a life and this only up to a certain point in time and doesn't even begin to cover the latter more political and worldly years!

I adore Shirley Temple! She was such a powerful force as a child. I grew up watching her movies and loving them. This book is an interesting look into the life and times of a little girl who grew up on screen. Fans must read.

It was a bit of a disappointing read. A lot of the time her anecdotes made her seem like a bit of a brat rather than the precocious girl I think she was trying to describe. I liked the bits about Uncle Billy, I was curious about that and one of the reasons I wanted to read the book. A lot of the times she doesn't go into her feelings or thoughts on certain events in her life, for example why she decided to retire. And I was disappointed the book ended after the birth of her third child, I would have liked to hear about how she became a US Ambassador. Overall it was interesting, though.

Interesting, especially marriage at 17, subsequent divorce, and post Hollywood life. Is she really a child prodigy with full memory of all events from age 3? However, I found it very easy to put down between chapters and difficult to pick up.

An interesting look at child stardom in the 30's and 40's. Her memory for details is impressive
