The story itself was fine. I wished it used the history more instead it felt like Tudor England was just a veneer, with Henry and Anne used as nothing more than plot devices.
The main character was also not the most relatable. It felt hard to sympathize with as for a good portion of the novel she was very snobbish even after being casted out of high society.
Also, the rise and fall of the main conflict felt very rushed compared to the rest of the novel.
A revenge plot against her family would have been better, "Count of Monte Cristo"-esque but with a witch.

Loved this book! I devoured it in no time as I just couldn't quit listening to the audiobook. Amie McNee writes with a great sense of humor that really kept me feeling entertained. It made an MC that could at times be unlikeable, still be endearing enough that you rooted for her in the long run. The language and dialogue could come off quite modern at times, so if that's a pet peeve for you in a historical novel, then you may not enjoy it. This is definitely one I will be getting a copy of for my personal collection.
