Self-indulgent, vapid hippy-dippery, under the pretense of profound philosophy, but with an absolute minimum of philosophical thought. Anti-intellectual, even. Worst piece of shit I ever read.

Great story with hilarious humor, fascinating critique of religion, all with a kind outlook

This was a fun ride. It had a lot of ideas I feel were sort of in the zeitgeist at a time I didn't realize they were in the zeitgeist, but they are woven together in a fun, creative, competent way.

Sometimes I think of Tom Robbins as some sort of alter-ego to Chuck Palahniuk, I don't know why. The creativity they both share, the modern-ness, the raunchiness, except with Tom being a lot less edgy and more just... playfully kinky, maybe. I could be wrong about the comparison, but somehow it works for me.

Jitterbug Perfume is a bit of modern magical realism about sex and smells. What else do you need?

The story was really interesting, but really dragged in some parts.

Very cool book. Made me want to eat beets and live forever.
