I absolutely loved this book. I'm such a sucker for the friends to lovers trope and for the roommates trope, that when I got the chance to read this, I couldn't say no.
One of the things that I loved most was how long Bexley and Tristan have been friends. They meet when they were young teenagers and immediately became friends. They'd been through a lot together. Tristan knew Bexley better than anyone. Her philosophy on dating was interesting...No guy had made it past 7 dates. I loved that Tristan wanted a chance. He wanted Bex for himself and got her to promise to last 7 dates, no matter what.
Tristan (and Bex) came up with some pretty interesting dates. I loved that Tristan wanted to make things special for her.
Honestly, one of my favorite parts was with both Tristan and Bex realized that even though they were best friends, and they pretty much knew everything about each other, they both avoided knowing much about the other person's personal/dating life. Neither could really stand to see the other person with someone else. There's one scene, where Tristan really opens up about some stuff from his past, and it was just such a nice moment between him and Bex. It's definitely an emotional one, and I loved the connection Bex and Tristan had.
Obviously, there's going to be some drama, and it's something you're able to see coming. I was glad that it wasn't drawn out and that things were resolved in a satisfying way.
This is my first book by D. Kelly but it definitely won’t be my last!

“Your third date is here; better not keep him waiting. If he’s lucky, he might get to lucky number seven.”
“You’re a jerk.” I’m laughing as I open the door.
“But you still love me.”
This was such a cute friends-to-lovers romance. I enjoyed Bexley and Tristan’s relationship so much. They had such a great connection as best friends and even a greater one as they navigated dating and falling in love with each other. Their chemistry was off the charts!
“The one. I can’t explain it, but I’ll know him, and it won’t take more than seven dates to find him. He’ll be the one who makes me feel butterflies, he’ll be the reason I smile, and God, Tris, he’ll make me laugh like no one else can.”
Bexley Scott has a dating pattern, her best friend Tristan has named it the Dating Roulette - if you commit a dating sin, you’re out. Every guy Bexley has ever dated has committed a dating sin and no man has reached an eighth date with Bexley. For Bexley it’s pretty simple, she knows that whoever passes all her tests and reaches date eight is the one - the man she will marry. Bexley was a great female lead, she was energetic and determined. She knows what she wants and doesn’t think twice about dating someone if he doesn’t meet her standards. Some of these are pretty silly, but hey, we all have our quirks.
“My feelings are real, and if I make it past date seven, you better bet the boyfriend title is a given.”
Tristan Jacobs is a total sweetheart and he adores Bexley. He’d do absolutely anything for his best friend, even try to show her that he’s the one she’s been looking for all this time. I loved how considerate Tristan was of Bexley’s feelings and how much he respected her. He joins ”the dating game” he’s teased Bexley about for so many years, because he wants to show her just how perfect they are for each other.
Bexley and Tristan’s story had it all. It was heartwarming and romantic, funny and relatable, steamy and swoon-worthy. They were friendship and relationship goals. It was so much fun to watch them realize what everyone around them already knew - they are perfect for each other.
Definitely pick this one up if you enjoy a good friends-to-lovers romance!
“I don’t think you’re only supposed to be mine for this lifetime. I think you’re supposed to be mine in every lifetime.”
*A huge thanks to D. Kelly and Wildfire Marketing Solutions for providing me with a copy of this book for review. All thoughts are my own.*

Such a fun friends to lovers romance! Some seriously sexy scenes and super romantic moments from a SWOON-WORTHY hero! There's a bit of angst towards the end and overall a really great read.
I absolutely love a friends to lovers story. This one was written so well and I loved all of the characters!
This was my first read by D. Kelly. It was so sweet and swoony I couldn't put it down. I loved the relationship between Tristan and Bexley. It was so easy going it's easy to see why they are best friends.
This book will make you laugh and cry, possibly throw your reading device across the room but in the end, you will have a huge smile of satisfaction. Highly recommend.

This book is a great balance of sweet and hot!
It briefly takes you from Bexley, Tristan and Adam in high school to present day where Bexley has strict dating rules and doesn’t seem to give any guy a fighting chance.
Tristan is her best friend and roommate. Adam is a great secondary character who has history and friendship with them both.
A new round of “Dating Roulette” begins.. it’s an incredible story of friends who may become lovers.
I loved the banter, the sweetness of dating between two people who know each other so well.
Perfect combination of sweet with all the feels and smoking hot sexiness!!

I'm always a sucker for a good friends to lovers book. This book fit the bill. Bexley and Tristan have been best friends since she broke up with his best friend when they were 15. On that day, Bexley decided that she and Tristan would be friends. After college, they moved in together and became roommates. He has watched her date man after man, nobody ever making it past the 7th date. They jokingly called this the dating roulette. One day, Tristan decides to ask her to not date anybody and date him. Thus begins the start of a beautiful romance and tons of chemistry. During the time they are dating, they each start a notebook about their dates and their feelings. I loved reading the 2 different POVs. There is a misunderstanding but ultimately, I was happy with the ending. This is was a great read.
Overall Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2
Dating and rules. The two are necessary together, but also very very complicated. Rules protect hearts, ensure boundaries, and guide the relationship. However, they block feelings, and they allow a heart to become too protected that it misses out on fully experiencing feelings because rules always come from your mind, not your heart.
D. Kelly’s Dating Roulette is a story about Bexley and Tristan, best friends since high school. Tristan is also best friends with the first guy to break Bexley’s heart, hence the way Tristan and Bexley meet. From that moment, these two are inseparable. They go to college together, they live together, and quite frankly, Tristan would love to work with Bexley. But with all that time spent together, these two have never dated. For one, Bexley has rules and guidelines for dating. And no one has ever come close to scoring a seventh date with Bexley. As the story begins, feelings are changing for Bexley and Tristan. Tristan begins to see Bexley in a more amorous way, while it takes Bexley a bit of time to see Tristan similarly. She is definitely attracted to him at some point. Eventually, Tristan decides to make a deal with Bexley: date him for seven dates. After the seventh date, they can be a couple if it works for each of them or they can remain friends. Since these two began as a friendship, Tristan knows exactly how to date Bexley, and very quickly, these two fall in love. Unfortunately, life complicates any good relationship, and Tristan and Bexley’s burgeoning relationship is threatened. Even more, their friendship may change too. Will these two find their happy ending? Will they find true happiness with each other as a couple or as friends?
I loved this story. So much so, that I picked the book up and didn’t put it down until I finished it a day later. As I have stated in recent blog reviews, I don’t mind a friends-to-lovers trope. I appreciate it more when it has a twist to it. I’m driven quite mad when one friend fights the attraction over the other friend, Thankfully, that isn’t the case with D. Kelly’s romance. They are both “all in” once they acknowledge their attraction to each other. I do think Tristan has been attracted to Bexley for longer than she has been attracted to him. But also, Tristan has to push past all of Bexley’s “issues” with men and relationships. They are both “well-traveled” in the relationship department, but I think we realize that Bexley has a few more miles than Tristan.
Since Bexley has rules and “hang-ups” when it comes to guys (read that as “picky”…nothing wrong with that. It’s simply a statement), Tristan’s attentiveness to her achieves Kelly’s goal: building an undeniable chemistry between the two and keeping her reader’s engaged. I can’t speak for other romance readers, but I’m a personal fan of the man who loves a woman (or man) in her (his) love language. To a certain degree, Tristan does this.
He also becomes the problem in the relationship when there is a misunderstanding about Bexley’s relationship with her co-worker, and Tristan becomes stubborn in his response to the misunderstanding. That is definitely Tristan’s character flaw. However, Bexley, as the strong female heroine, is able to use her understanding of Tristan to pull him back to her. It’s probably my favorite part of the book. Quite frankly, given Bexley’s background with men, she could have walked away from Tristan. However, D. Kelly creates an indestructible relationship through Tristan and Bexley’s indestructible friendship. This is the core of this book. This understanding that a true friendship first in a relationship can build an even stronger love commitment.
This was my first D. Kelly read, and it will definitely not be my last. Yes, this book had some angsty moments, but they never overwhelm the reader. Instead, watching Tristan and Bexley, best friends, fall in love on the page made this reader sigh and remember the power of love. If you love a “friends-to-lovers” type of read, you can’t go wrong with reading D. Kelly’s Dating Roulette. It’s time well spent.
