Goede aanvulling op On Writing.
Dit is eigenlijk gewoon een verdere verdieping op het leven en de carrière van King.
Ik vond het vooral leuk om nog maar eens bevestigd te zien hoe ongelofelijk compulsief lezen en schrijven voor deze man is! Hij leest overal en alles wat hij deed in zijn vrije tijd als kind en tiener en daarna, lijkt schrijven te zijn. Er zitten een paar crazy anekdotes in over zijn lees en schrijfgedrag. Dit zijn de enige stukken die ik hier echt uit meeneem. Verder was het niet per sé een impactvol of interessant boek. Wel gewoon goed geschreven en vlot leesbaar!
Ik zou dit boek enkel aanraden aan Stephen King megafans en dan nog zou ik het niet per sé verplichte lectuur noemen. On Writing is veel interessanter omdat het van de man zelf komt én schrijfadvies bevat. Dit boek was ook inspirerend maar op minder persoonlijke manier.

This is a very compelling and fascinating, albeit unauthorized, biography of the horror great, Stephen King. As a King fan, I found it to be immensely readable; although I knew quite a bit about Mr. King already, I was pleased to find more than a few surprises about his life and lifestyle. Almost all of his books and stories are covered here in varying levels of detail, including details omitted from the final published version and the story's origins in the first place. The author also covers King's dealings with the paparazzi, overzealous fans, his near-death accident, and how he came to be involved with his band, the "Rock-Bottom Remainders." It stops at the end of 2008, at the publication of "Just After Sunset."
This book was kind of interesting, but about halfway through I started realising that the author didn't actually talk to Stephen or Tabitha King, just recycled bits of other interviews & things that had already been cited elsewhere, so what's the point? Why write a book about someone you don't even speak to, or even thank in the thank yous?
Really enjoyed this insight into the life of an author I've read and enjoyed for years, I recommend for most King fans. It's also inspired me to pick up some old along classics again.
If you read King's On Writing, there's really nothing new here.
