You wrote a book.

It's not getting picked up, so you pitched it under a man's name.

It does get picked up and now the publisher needs author photos and shit.

So your lawyer friend finds you an actor to play Zane, the author.

But he isn't really an actor - he's an accountant, who needs legal help because his business partner was a drug addict.

You work together to sell the farce, but then he agrees to have a film crew come to your house!

WTF, mate.

But he's hot.

And you like him.

Now that you know he isn't the jerk persona he keeps putting on.

Y'all go on book tour together,

But then your secret is found out by your annoying neighbor who is connected to a well known ish blogger.

You don't know what to do

Lots of panic.

The publisher wants you to admit you co-wrote the book.

The guy is like ummm no -- I'm not taking credit for your book, so I'm just going to excuse myself from the picture.

But that just left you to manage it, on your own - which is annoying, he just abandoned you.

Then he calls his sister and his sister is like... you are an idiot.

So he shows up at the book signing and "saves" the day, but you didn't really need to be saved, so you are pissed again.

Then he chases after you and you come up with a plan together.

OH and your book is a best seller -- and you are rich now.

Many of us have gone to bed, turned the light off and stared into the glow of a kindle, wondering what to read next. This was me two nights ago. I dont know how long I flicked between my kindle library and goodreads, searching for what would fit my mood.

Eventually, I decided on 'Finding Mr Write' by Kelley Armstrong. I dont know what made me choose it but it was exactly what I wanted and needed.

I don't know how to explain the adoration I have for Daphne and Chris.
I dont know how to explain the way their relationship develops, nor the realistic way (for the most part), it was handled.
I don'tknow how to explain that the language and the writing style triggered a cinematic experience in my brain.

I have laughed, rolled my eyes, groaned at the cheesy jokes and cheered these characters on over 368 pages. I wish I could do it again but seeing as how life doesn't work that way,

I guess I'm checking out Armstrong's back catalogue.

As a romance, Finding Mr Write isn't as smutty as some. The sex scenes aren't numerous but they are excellent.

My thanks to @littlebrown and @netgalley for the free e-arc in return for an honest review.

Listened on Spotify after reading book 2 as an ARC—I had to go back!
A fun romantic comedy with some sharp insights into the publishing world.
If you’re into stories about writers, editors, and love behind the scenes, this one (and Writing Mr. Wrong) are great picks.

Finding Mr. Write (Audiobook)

This book was a nice, diverting read. A hot accountant pretends to be a rugged woodsman and young adult author, all because one woman believed no one would want to read her books if they knew they were written by a woman. This no doubt has a lot of truth to it. Though the story doesn’t really dig deep into smashing the patriarchy or anything.

There were fun moments of pretending to be people they weren’t, which of course led to a lot of misunderstandings. Also, they weren’t exactly communication pros. The main character was definitely boy-crazy and objectified the male lead quite a bit, more so than the other way around, which felt like a bit of a role reversal for the genre.

If you’re looking for something light and entertaining, this fits the bill. But if you’re after a truly standout rom-com or chick-lit story, this probably wouldn’t make the top of the list - at least not *my* list.

It was narrated by Natalie Naudus and Will Peters. I thought the voices worked well for the characters.
