Cute, quick read. Enjoyed the plot. Some miscommunication trope, which isn’t my favorite. More of a closed door romance.

Fed up with no publishers biting on her YA Zombie apocalypse novel, Daphne decides to submit it under the name Zane Remngton. To her surprise, she gets offered a half a million dollar book deal, the only problem being that she isn’t Zane. She devises a plan with her friend Nia to hire someone to play the part for author pictures and a few interviews. Nia hooks her up with her accountant Chris in exchange for helping him get out of some legal trouble. At first Daphne can't stand Chris, he’s arrogant, hasn’t read her book, and rude. But once she sends a picture to her publisher, she’s stuck with using him as the face of her book. What they thought was a simple interview turns into a filmed interview at her house. Chris stays and they get closer. Things take a turn when she gets offered a tour that got moved up due to the book's success. When they embark on the tour, they get closer and Chris reveals he was just playing a character that he thought Daphne would want Zane Remmington to be. Daphnes publisher finds out that Chris isn’t the author and they have to devise a plan for coming out with the truth of who wrote the book.

Daphne is reserved, scared to put herself out there after bad heartbreak. An architect who has always had a passion for writing. She's strong, outdoorsy, and creative.

Chris is a nerdy late bloomer. He’s a little awkward, but charming and kind.

It was easy for me to keep reading but I was a little disappointed. I felt like the pacing of things was too fast, especially in the beginning. It wasn’t quite the enemies to lovers trope, but it kind of felt like it was going to a slight version of that. The texting exchange between them in the beginning didn’t give me anything for the characters. I felt their chemistry was a bit inorganic, he said a couple not arrogant things and suddenly she wanted to bone him because he was hot. The transition and tension just wasn’t there for me. Even the banter wasn’t very good, I didn’t find Chris all that funny. I wanted a book to make me giggle and kick my feet, and unfortunately this fell flat. I had seen some good reviews but unfortunately this one just wasn’t for me personally.

I liked the concept but not my cup of tea. Really didn't like the opening bit, there had to have been a better way to get that across....

DID NOT FINISH: 20%

I’m surprised at how much I dislike this book already. It’s too painful to try and push through. I just have to shelve it. Bummed because I usually love this author!

A cute fluff read though the drama at the end felt a little unnecessary
