This graphic novel is a moving combination of memoir and factual guide to gender and transition. The author is the mother of a trans person, and despite being progressive, she finds that she struggles with coming to understand her child in a different way. Her process of coming to acceptance will help other parents dealing with complicated emotions.

Perhaps it was the format I read it in (digital, through my library app), but it felt a little disjointed at times. I wanted more of a tie in for all the voguing figures, too. But overall I found this to be a good book. I'll be buying a copy for my mother.

The art is beautiful and it's a relatable story. I relatable a lot to her processing while I was coming out to myself.

The art style wasn’t my thing. The book is kinda experimental with a lot of words for a graphic novel. Which is fine. Just not for me.
