For some reason I never warmed up to Tim. I felt he was so wishy-washy and like he was just toying Ben along for shits. He sort of grew on me at the end, after Jace. I wanted Ben with Jace the whole time, so I wasn't thrilled that Tim showed back up and his actions seemed to solidify my feelings towards him. I know book two is told in his voice, so you get his side of the story, but I think I would have liked to hear his voice in this book. His actions and Ben's POV just made it hard to like Tim.

What starts off as a slow (sorta adorable) high school romance, spans a whole decade in the life of Ben Bentley and his constant attraction to Tim Wyman.

Any further summary feels spoilery. I really couldn't stop reading this and..man. Its good.

Oh I loved this book. I felt like Ben, Tim and Jace were friends of mine. I felt so connected with them.
I do wish there was more descriptions and the intimate moments lasted longer. A lot of the times the sex was just one sentence. I was hoping for more on that department.
But it's the ending that got me. I cried! I felt so invested in the story that I got emotional.
The rest of the series is now in my list to read.

I have never in my life crude over a book but this, this is something deferent. I could feel when the characters was sad I could feel when they where happy and most of all I could feel their pain out through the whole book. I would read it again and again and still feel the same way

I feel like this book is a good representation of what it’s like to be in a modern cis male gay relationship. BUT!! I hated all of the characters except for Allison. Ben pissed me off ever time I turned the page. Jace was an enabler. And, Tim needs to see a therapist instead of buying new cars.

I’m giving it a 4/5 because I was hooked on the story. Sometimes I was SUPER uncomfortable reading vivid sex scenes between two TEENAGERS… but, after they became of age, it was super hot lol.

I don’t know if I will read more of the serious after the trauma of the ending but, we’ll see.

I feel kinda bad rating this so low because it’s so earnest. It wears its heart right in its sleeves and I really do admire that.

But the writing is just bad. A showcase of telling but never showing. There is no voice or specifics that made me want to keep going. It’s all just flat and dull.

I liked the fact that it takes place over many years but even with all that time the characters never feel developed. I still don’t feel like I know any of these people. There was no real arc that we go on, it’s just a series of events with no throughline. No real cause and effect to almost anything that happened. It’s just what the writer wanted to happen rather than letting the characters dictate what would happen.

I was completely pleased with this book. I needed a novel with gay characters for a class assignment and was so happy that I ran across this. This is a beautiful coming of age love story. I appreciate Bells writing style; even the way he decided to end the novel even if it wouldn't be my first choice. Love may be right but it must also be the right time. Loved it.
Also the love scenes were so tasteful it's hard to find novels that arent merely trashy gay erotica. Some of the most tender scenes I've ever read
