This was a really good book that continues a lot of great aspects that were in I Am Not A Serial Killer. Really, the only part of this book I didn't like was some violence towards animals. Still, I should warn that it's even more violent and dark than the first one.

I finally finished this book!!
After four months of laying around, I picked it up again and finally read through it.
I read like the half of it in February and then picked it up again two days ago.
And after I've read three chapters the day before yesterday, the action already started and I almost read it in one sitting.
It was a gripping second book in the trilogy. A really great read with another interesting plot.
I'm liking John more, although he showed his darker side more often than in the first book and it got really dark and I despised it. But still. He has my sympathy.
I'm looking forward to the third and final installment in the series.

I'm still flabbergasted that this series is marketed as "teen." Just because something has a teen character doesn't make it teen! This is Dexter jr with demons, and it's really graphic. The main character is trying hard to do the right thing but has difficulty controlling his dark urges. I'll probably read the 3rd book just to see if anything unexpected happens.

Just as good, if not better than the first book. More twists and a great hero.

I...

This book...

I don't know how to review this one. I loved the first one for its edge and character voice, and this one is more so, and darker.

I said I wanted to see John to break all of his rules, but I'm not sure I was ready for it. There are good reasons for each of those rules!

However, I truly loved this book. I loved reading it. I pushed everything aside and finished this in a day. I don't usually do that.

Something about John's struggle to find his place when he doesn't fit in with anyone, something about his conflict over not being himself, just guts me. I love it. And it scares me. At the same time that John is a fascinating and sympathetic main character, and as much as I love being in his head, he scares me quite a bit.
