This book got me out of my reading slump. It was the perfect fall spooky read that I couldn’t put down. I do have some wonderings about the timelines of it all - mainly how Abi, Charles and Ella are still alive and well? When I stop thinking about that though it was a great book!

I was expecting a good thriller book but this only left me a bit annoyed. Here comes my rants:

There are a lot of unnecessary scenes. I mean, what was the purpose of Willa's POV? It didn't make sense to read about her cheating (and I hated every page of it) on her husband. Then we learned who her lover is making his role in the present underwhelming. It feels like nothing connects at all.

And the thing with Max's company being bought (?) by Dunham. Like that's Lilian's husband's name right? This wasn't discussed at all. What was the purpose other than making it look like Rosie got a big break? And Rosie didn't ever think that they are connected at all?

Finally, let's not forget about Lilian (and her barely mentioned husband). Is she really cheating with Chad? My theory is no because the last scene with Chad was his vulnerable moment and I feel like everything he says is the truth. But it still had me wondering what if he is lying to save Rosie a bit of heartache?

Anyway, everything feels scattered and predictable. So many things was left unanswered too. Maybe this book is not just for me as I feel like my review is in the minority.

This was a pretty good book. There were times I thought I knew how everything was happening but I was wrong. The overall story kept me intrigued but there was parts I was not interested but kept going to see how it all ended.
I loved her book the Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six.
