Based off a true story of a sow who had 17 piglets with lovely and also adorable illustrations - a winner!

Doing some more reading with Neo, we pulled this off our shelf of library pick-ups. Emma the pig is getting ready to have a litter, but she seems quite down in the dumps. After giving birth to a whopping SEVENTEEN piglets, Emma spikes a fever and nothing can help her. The piglets are forced to stay in the farmhouse, but Emma will not eat at all. It is only when the farmer has an ingenious idea that Emma seems to get a little stronger and makes a new friend as well. Neo liked this story and felt that the illustrations were perfect. He would like to read other books in the series if we can find them. Easy to read for the newer reader and thoroughly enjoyable all around.
