We all matter. We all have an impact on the world around us. We are not, however, perfect or always happy or often even pleasant to be around if we are being real. Olive Kitteridge is herself through and through while also not often clearly seeing her own impact or her own vices. Olive is all of us as this collection of stories profoundly points out.

I listened to audio version. I kept wanting to stop listening - possibly the narrator's voice choice / performance characterization of main character. But the storylines and alternate characters kept absorbing me. Truly a love/hate relationship with this book, but may have hated the character less with a different voice (if read).
Note - it was the timber of the voice I disliked - by the end of the book, I had a much better appreciation of the main character. The narration changed and grew with the stories.
