Okay, so this was amazing. I don't want to plot-spoil since this is book two, so I'm going to try to stay vague. The character dynamics in this book were totally ramped up from the first book. It's like Krys hooked them all up to amplifiers and then dosed them liberally with caffeine--except, I mean that in a good way and that there was tons of emotion and tension. Look, I words good, okay? The flashback/memories that Sen has were great. I loved those glimpses where I had to guess what sort of historical timeframe I might be looking at. Will was a joy. Benny remains an absolute favorite.
I NEED BOOK THREE. I have so many questions and I want so much more page-time with these characters that have become close friends to me.

A brilliant sequel which builds well upon Time to Wake while diving deeper into the world’s lore and further fleshing out the characters.

And the plot thickens!

Another part of Senlis, Hunter, and Benny’s past unfolds following the end of Time to Wake. As Sen’s memories come to the forefront, she is forced to sort between those belonging to her past self and those of her new incarnation. Our snarky, caffeine-loving MC struggles to keep herself intact while learning who she can trust. I’m looking forward to the next installment to see if our group of misfits finds a resolution to the puzzle before them.

This was a superb follow-up to Time to Wake! It included all the things I enjoyed about the first book (unique lore, snarky and witty dialogue, Benny) and expanded on them, making it even better. I loved learning more about the Nephilim and about Senlis’s past and her current situation and oh boy am I intrigued to see what happens next!

I enjoyed reading this book, even with the general plot clear from the onset. I wanted to tag "emotional" for this book, purely for the humor associated with characters that feed on emotions. Second in a trilogy, the book clearly sets up a third book, and the end flips the script on the first two novels. The continued inclusion of a non-binary character is done in a way that gives them agency and does not make it their only attribute, which is very attractive to me. Additionally, K. Thomas does a good job of showing past events rather than telling, which is frustrating to the main character but refreshing to a reader. Definitely a few spicy-parts, bookended with humor. Very enjoyable read!
