I received an advanced copy of this book.

Three women find themselves fawning over an open store-front, one much too large for each of them individually, but the perfect size for the three of them together. They combine forces, open their shop on the boardwalk, and new friendships are formed between Bree, Mikki, and Ashley.
All three women have challenges in their romantic lives, from a partner who won't agree to commitment, to being afraid of commitment, to recovering from a divorce. The book went into quite a lot of detail in each of these lives and challenges, and got a bit dry for me .

I absolutely loved this book. I want to read all the books by this author! I would definitely recommend this book!

The story
Three strangers, Bree, Mikki and Ashley, meet when they decide to rent a fab beachfront retail space together. Bree has moved her bookshop there, Ashley has Muffins to the Max and Mikki has a lovely gift shop. As time passes, the three start to become good friends, as they share their emotions and love lives with each other.

My thoughts
Susan Mallery is a safe bet author for me, and this lovely story was no exception. The issues raised are very real. The three women are all at different places in their lives, one a young widow with a complicated family, one hoping to get married and the third divorced with older children and an ex-husband who is very much part of her life. They are all at an emotional inflection point, which makes for a super special story. ❤️

Bree, Ashley and Micki share a work space, each with their own successful business. As their friendship grows they learn to lean on each other when their personal lives get messy… This is my third book by this author and I have to say, I like her style.

This endearing tale of friendship between three women and how they support each other throughout their struggles had me fully invested from the beginning. Each of the woman are at a crossroads in their lives, including romantic entanglements. Through love, loss and heartbreak these characters are each other’s guiding lights, no matter how difficult the situation. I loved how this book is a prime example of female relationships and companionship. Divorce, emotional abuse and mental health were also highlighted, which I appreciated. The Boardwalk Bookshop is a perfect summer read!
