This book was the first 5 star I’ve found in a long time. I couldn’t put it down. Three women become unexpected friends all because they wanted the same piece of real estate.

Couldn’t get into it. Audiobook narrator was also terrible.

The Boardwalk Bookshop

This book had me laughing and crying. Three co-owners of a shop on the Boardwalk become friends. Their relationships between themselves and others highlights the multiple complexities in relationships. It is interesting the direction the relationships take. All seem to find their answers except Earl.

A fun book to read over the summer!

Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

This one fell a bit flat for me. It felt predictable (serious foreshadowing from the first chapter!)
While it focused on some positive female relationships and the strength women can gain from one another, there were repeated self-deprecating comments made by one of the characters that drove me nuts ("I'm so fat," "No one can love me at this size," etc.). The repeated comments by Mikki were redundant and created a negative feeling against an otherwise lovable character.

Bree was a good study in what a person broken by her upbringing may bring to an adult relationship. I loved that she was strong on the outside while being vulnerable and tender on the inside, god forbid anyone ever find that out.

Ashley seemed a bit bland to me throughout. Her trials & tribulations impacted me less that those of the other two main characters.

The supporting characters added some intrigue, but some seemed expendable.

This is not my typical reading material, which may be why I didn't enjoy it much. If you want a quick beach read that may make you giggle a few times but may also make you depressed at times, this is it.

Underwhelming. I gave up half way through. Obnoxious characters and uninteresting storyline. I know this is a super harsh review so maybe it was me?
