I enjoyed the book. It was an easy read, flowed nicely. Pretty predictable as most books like this are, but I would recommend this to anyone who just wants a dose of romance with a bit of humor.
A cute story about three women who are friends and colleagues and dealing with their own love-life shit. I loved them all as they were each unique. The story had me guessing on how it would end the whole time.

The summer, the beach, and a bookshop are an irresistible combination in The Boardwalk Bookshop by Susan Mallery. The story is about women who are entrepreneurs and who support each other. As in other Susan Mallery books, there is romance and physicality. Fortunately, the focus stays on the women, taking on some serious issues including emotional child abuse through the lens of the adult that child grows up to be. This, for me, is the lasting image of this book.

This book is really more of a 3.5. It was fairly predictable, simple storyline, and a light escapist read (a plain bagel with butter if it were a food). At times, the characters’ issues (especially Bree’s) were frustrating and even depressing. Who would run from a hot, incredibly kind and trustworthy guy? It’s another one of those head scratching plots when you wonder what he even sees in her. The other two friends have their own hang ups but aren’t as annoying. It did at least have a happy ending.
This book took me a while to get into it. Once I got to know the three main characters personality I was hooked. I loved seeing the ups and downs of their relationships and friendships. A sweet book overall.
Ashley/Seth Storyline Ruined It
If not for the patriarchal Ashley/Seth marriage discussions over and over and over —this would be a decent summer read.

Go ahead and add this to your must read summer list! It was adorable. The perfect amount of romance & friendship. I love the storyline- 3 strangers who become co-owners and then best friends. It's a quick read that you won't put down.
