While this collection wasn’t my favorite writing by Roth, the artwork included in this brought the stories to life in a way the words couldn’t. My favorite story of the collection was “Hearken,” which was well worth the read despite the others falling flat (at least for me).

If your fan of Veronica Roth it is worth a read. It's also frustrating because whilst the stories are good they are short, and when you like one you want more.

I savored this one. And wow was it delicious - each story so well crafted and emotionally potent. Most of them made me cry at least a little. And two stories from the Carve the Mark universe? I couldn’t have asked for more...

This book was also probably my first experience with YA short stories, too. Most of the short fiction I’ve read has been the “classics” you go through in college creative writing classes. So it was really fun to see my favorite genre in this short story format.

I’ve never read Veronica Roth‘s books before. The short stories were a good introduction to her world. I would assume that the last two stories were part of her novel world. Each story was different, a story about self discovery, free will. stories about choice, and deciding which choice is the best for you

I am a bit of a Veronica Roth fangirl so when I saw this new book I got instantly excited and nervous. Would it be good as the divergent and carve the mark series? I can thankfully say that yes, it is.
This book is made up of short stories, a few based in the Carve the Mark world, which I loved as I am always happy to learn more about my favourite worlds and characters and they did not let me down. I also adored all of the other short stories, which were all completely different to the others!
It was an absolute treat for me, I just wish I had read it as a physical book and not an e-book as it looks like the illustrations would be awesome.

I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review from netgalley.

This collection of stories from the future was meh. After the first story Inertia, which really resonated with me, the rest just left me feeling nothing. Some of the premises were nice but once again I just don't feel like short stories are for me. I love stories on a much grander scale. After reading some of these I wanted more. Oh well, what can you do about it.

As I think is true with a lot of short story collections; I liked some more than others. There are a few I would love to see full novels for (namely The Spinners) and a few seemed to drag despite their short length. I wish the last few hadn't been based around characters from one of Veronica Roth's Carve the Mar series. I have no interest in reading this series and the amount of info dumping required to catch new readers up on the backstory for this world and characters really bogged the stories down. They really should have been published in their own compilation.
Overall, I enjoyed the first half the book and was disappointed by the second. However, if you are a fan of her Carve the Mark series you'll probably enjoy the second half more than I did.
