Jane Eyre

Honestly, all the men here sucked. Mr. Rochester included. Another problem reading this today was the 20 year age gap lol (Jane was 19... oy). Nonetheless, I see why Jane Eyre is a classic — because this is a story about Jane’s agency, especially as a woman of her class at the time. This includes her decision to stay with Rochester in the end, which she came to with full awareness and acknowledgement of Rochester’s flaws.

That said, there was a lot of descriptive language, which I appreciated in some parts, but often in other parts made the book a somewhat tedious read.
