Sort of an airy quality to the poems; I think I prefer more rhythm.

If you liked the writing style in On earth we're briefly gorgeous, and felt a void after reading it, then you'll probably enjoy this one too.
That was the case for me, at least. There were a few poems in this collection that went completely over my head, but hey, I'm okay with that. I generally enjoy poetry, but realized I don't usually read work from authors that are... well, alive. Having said that, I'd honestly read Ocean Vuong's Amazon history. iyky

Ocean Vuong, the icon that you are...

I swear, I have no idea how Ocean Vuong is able to write these things that are so impactful, so succinctly. I don't know if I necessarily loved this collection of works as much as "Night Sky With Exit Wounds," but there were some absolute powerhouse works in this collection of poetry. I am - and will always be - an Ocean stan!

Haunting poems that reflect on the author's loss of his mother, and a lifetime of feelings of displacement and belonging as a refugee.
