THANK GOD omg. I looooved „On Earth we‘re briefly gorgeous“ by ocean Vuong, so I was even more disappointed when „night sky with exit wounds“ just wasn’t for me. I was a bit scared that it would be the same with this one, but „time is a mother“ is gorgeous! IMO all the things that bothered me in NSWEW were improved. The poetry didn’t feel as pretentious anymore and I was happy to read some beautiful lines in this one. The book lost one star for me because the form of the poems was distracting at times.

someone please give ocean a hug. my copy is signed so reading this felt like a personal attack on my mental state and well-being. i loved every line of this.
