Alright, this books is pretty well-written and descriptive. Believe me when I say not to eat during the fight scenes because you will throw up from all the descriptive gore. The book is pretty “bone-chilling”(get it? Cause the title is Not eve- …you know I mean). The plot has some common cliches here in there, but it still keeps you on your toes (wink wink, anyone get the reference lol). A lot of times the dark plot makes the small instances of normalcy stand out and create like a push and pull situation that only sucks you more in. Characters are quite interesting and all of them are morally gray except maybe
Boulder, Reyes, and couple minor characters
The villains tend to be very morally black, and the rest characters are somewhere on the gray side of morals, which to me is a genius choice for a book in this setting. The characters and the details are used very well to portray identity and morals.
Nita imagining a scalpel to calm down, Kovid’s rules, Lorenzo and Jorge relationship
. These details really added personality and flaws to the characters. If you want a book that explores, justification for killing, pain, and other dark subjects and some supernatural gore mixed in, this might be the perfect fit for you. Beware there’s a lot of dark subjects that can be triggering for people in this book. Overall a very good read, and exciting start to the series, Can’t wait to read the other ones.

The first thing I want to say about this book, that even though it is listed as a Young Adult, it isn't. This is graphic, gory, and demented. I would not let my kid read this unless they were over 14. (But then again, look at the video games they play at a much younger age).

This book is about Nita, a young girl who loves, and I do mean love, to dissect bodies. They are not human per-say, they are supernatural, and she didn't kill them, her mother ‘acquires’ them, and mom enjoys her job. She brings the bodies to Nita to dissect and put the pieces in jars and boxes, and then the parts get sold on the black market.

Nita's dissection room is her 'quiet' place, the place where she can relax and enjoy the passage of time. As a warning, she walks you through the dissections as she does them, and from her memories.

It's wrong, it's demented, but I really liked the story!

It's NOT for kids!

The story does leave the room and follows Nita when she is kidnapped and taken to the black market she’d cut up bodies for. She, and all of her parts, are now up for sale.
