Tomi is brilliant. The book picks up right where the 1st one ended. The characters are so well rounded I could see them while I read. It did not disappoint. I can’t wait to see these books on the big screen. There’s not a doubt in my mind that these stories won’t be picked up for a live action film. Fantastic story telling.

I struggled a little with the engagement aspect of this one. And the ending...my reaction to the ending was similar to the second Hunger Games: "Seriously, we're doing this again?"

Second time reading this, first time by audio format. I enjoyed the print version more. It’s fun to see the growth of the characters but, wow, do they make some awful decisions. The ending shocked me all over again.

Still awesome, though I think I liked the first one better. Can't wait to see what happens next. Cliff hanger.

I adored the first in this series, CHILDREN OF BLOOD AND BONE, but this one fell mostly flat for me. Felt like it relied too much on miscommunication and misunderstanding. Still an amazing world that Tomi Adeyemi has made, though, and I’ll certainly pick up the next book when it’s ready.
