While this was a fun quick little read, it didn't blow me away. It felt like the character had an easy acceptance of things that should have been more terrifying so it was hard to feel her emotions. The art style was lovely and reminded me a bit of Coraline at times. I might pick up a few more in the series but I doubt I'll read them all or gift these in the future.

Cute and easy to read, but the characters were rather stereotypical and the plots simplistic. I liked the few glimpse we get from the monsters and "darker side" though

Read this mostly to make sure it was appropriate in our children's graphic novel section. It's fine, but nothing terribly special. Don't think I'll be picking up the next volume.

A deliciously creepy story of a young girl whose family moves into her great uncle's spooky house. Courtney struggles to fit in at school. As she explores the house she discovers strangle beings, and magic books in her uncle's library. Courtney is a determined and strong character. Should appeal to Coraline fans.

After reading this one, I would strongly suggest it for middle school and young ya despite the back cover saying 7+. Most of the themes of the book are appropriate for a middle school and up audience.
More manga than graphic novel though not read in the traditional manga manner (right to left, back to front).
Interesting enough I would give the second one a try to see how the story/characters develop.

Not spectacular, but it's engrossing while you're reading. Dark humor with a feeling similar to Chris Woods' Malice books.
