It was annoying at first but then it hurt?

I just didn't expect the last few chapters.

I’ll admit—I’ve never been able to get through Tolstoy’s original rendition of Anna Karenina, but this was indulgent and addictive! At first, I had a hard time empathizing with any character, but eventually, became invested in the book. The writing is modern, juicy, and easy to ingest (very much Gossip Girl vibes). Slow start but gets better the longer you read!

I'm obsessed with this book, I couldn't put it down and finished it in just a few nights. Anna Karenina meets Gossip Girl.

At first I was a tad confused. Thank God for the index list of Characters. Every teenager is the same. We have the perfect ones, Anna, perfect boyfriend, grades, and just everything. Her younger sister, Kimmie, who is trying to recover from her ice skating accident which ruined her future career then there's her brother Steven, who just screwed up his relationship with his girlfriend. So much scandal goes on between this group. It kind of gave me gossip girl vibes. Fun drama read.

The pop culture references were distracting, unnecessary, and kind of annoying. Between that and the jargon of the characters, it felt like the author was trying too hard to sound young and hip. Also, the amount of similes in this book was insane. I just didn't care about any of the characters and wasn't a fan of the storytelling.

This book is a wild ride. And it made me cry a lot. I would definitely recommend it, especially during lockdown.
