Had a harder time getting engaged during the first half for some reason, but by the end I decided I like this one even more than Guards, Guards. I love the way pretty much every character is comic relief and at the same time someone you can really get attached to and root for.

Somehow (somehow!) I've made it through nearly 30 years of Discworld-loving reading, with one of my favourite as a child being Feet of Clay, and yet I'd never actually read the earliest Watch novels. Making up for lost time with the audiobooks. I know some people haven't loved the narration of this, especially compared to the Nigel Planer version, but I actually found that (despite the sloghtly too slow, pondering tone it takes overall), the accents and portrayals of the characters were pretty bang on to how I have or would have imagined them (especially compared to Planer's Vimes, who sounds like he has a perpetual cold rather than the cynical, world-weary tone I always got from reading his voice). Anyway. This was great. Looking forward to hearing the next one (and hoping it's as good as I remember).
