This book is hard to describe. The characters are far out there, and so are some of the story lines, but as a southerner I also didn’t question any of it, just sat there like, yeah that tracks. Heartwarming and well written, definitely worth reading.

Not something I would have picked up to read on my own. Because we had the author coming out to our community to talk, though, I picked it up. I am so pleasantly surprised at how much I liked the book. Flawed back woods people, a ghost and a hidden relationship in this Southern gothic novel.

This was strange in the way that many southern gothic novels are. Personally, I like that, although there are times when the characters feel too "out there." There's no question that they were gripping and I was hooked from the first sentence.
