Super predictable, but definitely my favorite book of this series.

Thank the gods for giving Emily McIntire a chance to write this book while she underwent chemo. Firstly, I cannot imagine going through cancer, but to write this banger of a book while trying to heal? Wow.
Little mermaid with a mafia twist. Oh, and we root for the villain? hooo ho ho! My one concern was potential cheating because that is not a trope that I actively enjoy, but I didn't have to worry about it in this book. Why would I? McIntire is a queen at both heartbreak and tension, but also good(ish) morals.
Also, I was pleasantly surprised at the small nods to various things in the little mermaid. Fisher (fllounder), Sebastian, the red hair of her cousin, a voice stealing poison...

This book is a work of genius!
