Hmm, this was interesting. I personally haven’t read the others in the series but I don’t think it hurt my understanding what happened in this book. I understood how hurt Billy was that his friends had just left and he had been worrying about them. I think that’s Billy’s instant acceptance of everything once Vrak brings him to his friends was out of character and from then on he was all in even though he fought a lot before that.
