I think this is a beautiful and honest story. I have read some reviews that think the story is sad and repiticious but that's life, and that's trauma. I haven't read Giliad but I really enjoyed this story. A story of coping and reconciliation with trauma as the main character Lila's worldview widens. Beautifully written and worth pushing through to the end like a friend telling you their life's story.

Marilynne Robinson is such a gifted author. She has an incredible talent for creating a deep and thought-provoking narrative that is delicately and beautifully written. I savor the words in her book. I find myself trying to find a quiet corner, with no one around, so I can read her books with no distractions, a tragedy to miss even a word.
