Utterly depressing read in the best way possible, helped by a wonderful protagonist, interesting side characters, and two of Warrior Cats's best villains to date.

Oh, Crookedstar, what a dark and difficult path you had to trod. I read this on a Kindle, so the graphic novel at the end was difficult to see, but it looks like Silverkit will grow up to be Silverstream, a very important cat in this series. By the later books I am reading (book 1 of Omen of the Stars), I know Leapoardkit becomes Leapordstar, but I don't think I've yet read about Crookedstar's later years.

The tender and gentle relationship with Willowbreeze was a sweet reward for all of Crookedstar's travails, and I was so sad. . . . .

I think this has truly been my favorite of the Super Editions! I usually find them a little long and sporadic, and I will say that overall having read a few of them at this point is helpful in that area, but this one flowed well. It rarely had large time jumps, like twice if I remember correctly. I did think it was slightly convoluted once he became Crookedjaw but I liked the heavy plot so I let that outweigh any complaints in that area. I think this book tied into the others better than most of the Super Editions. I felt like I learned just as much about the things that were happening in the other clans as I did RiverClan. Which I am sure is helped by the fact that I know more of the interactions and interpersonal relationships. It has cumulated into helping me enjoy this book a lot!

This was a great story. I enjoyed spending time in RiverClan and reading from Crookedstar's pov. Crookedstar went through so much, as do many of the warrior cats (all of them?). A lot of this story lines up with the events of Bluestar's Prophecy, so I wish I had read it right after Bluestar's book. Crookedstar dealt with new and unique challenges, but I don't want to spoil anything so I'll leave it at that. The formatting of the ebook was confusing though, because when there are time jumps, there isn't a space between the paragraphs so it's not clear right away that we've skipped ahead.

Great book that talks about Crookedstar, before. DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE SERIES! It contains spoilers
