If This Isn't Nice, What Is?: Advice for the Young by Kevin T. Collins, Scott Brick, Kurt Vonnegut

I enjoy Vonnegut's nonfiction more than his fiction. This book is a small collection of essays/graduation speeches he did. It comes with the standard wisdom, sarcasm, and poetry you would expect from this monumental writer. My only critique is with the editors. It gets very repetitive when one of the points of the introduction was to say that Vonnegut didn't just repeat the same stories over and over. When I got to the end of the book I kept having to check to make sure I wasn't reading the book backwards.

A good collection of his graduation and award speeches. Not sure if any of these are in his opinions books. It's been a little while since I've read them. But this compiles them into one nice little volume. After making it through the book you see a lot of redundancy, but they are good and true words that are worth reading over and over.

Funny, but the speeches listed are repetitive and the introduction ruined some of the best lines by giving them out of speech context

4 stars - A compilation of advice from different speeches. I had never read Vonnegut before this but I'm going to add him to my TBR. Great, fun writing.

Two things I really liked: the concept that a marriage isn’t enough people; be apart of your community.

Given this is a collection of speeches, it can seem repetitive. However, I think some of the points bear repeating.

Fun collection of speeches, mostly for graduation ceremonies. Not sure if I'd recommend it for anyone who isn't the Vonnegut completion-ist that I am, though.

I found this to be exceptionally clever and funny at times, although a bit repetitive.
