Love Alex McKnight, but this one was a bit too gory for my taste. I guess a serial killer is like that, but wow!

It was nice to have a new Alex McKnight story and it was good to learn more about this character away from the UP. I really enjoyed this story, looking forward to more.

Martin Livermore has set an evil trap for the FBI and for Alex McKnight. He's obviously still driven to kill, as any self-respecting serial killer would be, but the motives for Livermore's actions remain hidden. It was fascinating to know that Livermore's sights were set on McKnight but the reader is taken along on the mystery as to why.

The journey that McKnight is forced to take starts with the FBI picking him up from Michigan and whisking him off to Phoenix. McKnight meets some good people along the way, and it hurt my heart to read about their callous and twisted treatment from Livermore.

Dead Man Running is full of questions and action. It's a great read!

Thank you to First to Read for letting me read Dead Man Running in exchange for an honest review.

Received this book from the Goodreads.com Giveaways and really enjoyed it. Have read all the others in this series. Thus one is a little different from pervious books in the series as most of it takes place in Arizona, or somewhere besides the area in Michigan where the main character lives.
The story centers on a serial killer who asks for Alex McKnight to assist in finding a woman he kidnapped. The bad guy escapes and Alex is trying to hunt him down. He can't figure out how they are connected until close to the end of the book.
The serial killer is a very intelligent, sadistic person. The way he kills people is very disturbing.

3.5 stars. I have been a fan of Steve Hamilton and the Alex McKnight books since A Cold Day In Paradise came out 20 years ago. I was a little disappointed that Paradise, Michigan only makes a cameo appearance this time, but, hey, it's Alex McKnight. Fast paced and suspenseful, from Phoenix to Grand Rapids, my only qualifier is that you read it quickly and don't overthink it because it does require a suspension of disbelief probably one too many times. Not that that will stop me from running out and purchasing the next Alex McKnight as soon as it comes out.

This is book no. 11 in the Alex McKnight series. I haven’t read any of the others, but that didn’t do anything to my understanding of the story. It starts with a guy on a cruise along the Mediterranean discovering through the NetCams he installed that not only someone broke into his home but he was having sex with a corpse on his bed (yikes!) The FBI quickly caught the guy who was a serial killer on his watch list only to find out he has a victim still alive hidden somewhere. However, he will only speak to Alex McKnight, a cop-turned-bounty-hunter living across the country. Killer and Alex will go on a cat and mouse chase across country that will end pushing Alex to the limits.

This book is a page-turned. I could have finished in a sitting but life got in the way. However, I have to admit that though I loved 83% of the book, the remaining 17% was a total let-down. So predictable, I just knew exactly what was gonna happen... plus, Alex McKnight escape from a life-threatening situation seemed like out of “Saw” the movie. I also didn’t like the link between the killer and McKnight which is (of course) only revealed at the end. Finally, like expected from this type of books, women are only victims and all the strong and smart characters are men. But overall, it’s entertaining.
