The prose is very caustically witty, in this very self aware tropy urban fantasy. The plot is a bit of a mess, and I thought I had missed a prequel as so much happened in the past that kept being referred to (I personally want to read the book of what happend to Kate and Patrick when they were 17). The characters were not very loveable, but fascinating all the same. If I read the next book it will be because I want to read more about Elise (loved Elise!!)

Okay, I love this concept. Lesbian noir paranormal? Immediate sell.
And a success for the most part. I got a little lost with the volume of characters and their interconnections, and it went on a little longer than I expected it to, but for the most part it was quite a good time.

The plot is centered around a murder investigation and related murder attempts. A number of scenes occur in a sewer. The main character has an uncomfortable/unhealthy relationship with an ex (wrt stalking), but she is merely annoyed and the situation isn't explicitly dangerous.
