This book wasnt necessarily bad nor was it necessarily good either.
The story felt very mediocre but also kept me interested enough to finish it!
The story follows, Amelia and how she accustoms to life on shore, from losing her dear husband and then eventually being persuaded to join P.T Barnum's museum of curiosity.
Amelia was a very intricate character who had dreams and desires and also realized the cruelty of humanity. She didn't care for how women were treated and tbh she was a girlboss who spoke her mind.
All the other characters fell really flat for me, they didnt have much personality but the story over all kept me interested until the end :)

Went into reading this book with the expectations of it being in a similar style of Alice and red queen, a twisted version of a beloved fairytale. I was kinda disappointed. Had I not read the previous two I believe I would have liked it, though the plot was very slow. It’s not a bad book, just not what I was necessarily hoping for. 3 stars

Probably more of a 3.5. I enjoyed reading it but didn’t love the character arcs or the timing of the book. Still really enjoyable. Would be a pretty good book club book as it brings up a lot of interesting topics.
I received a free eBook from Penguin First to Read
I wanted to like this story a lot more then I did.
This is my second book by Christina Henry and her writing style threw me off in both cases. The first part was just horrendous... it did get better in later parts of the story but the style of writing just is not for me.
This is a retelling of the Little Mermaid. I liked what she did with the story but I got The Greatest Showman vibes the entire time. Not really what I was expecting but it was good enough.

Writing was very repetitive, quite boring. Focuses on men’s opinions on women’s body a lot, i.e how lovely and “thin” the mermaid was. Would rate this 1 star if I ever managed to finish it.
