I always love a good fantasy story that blends in with our world, and this is just that. Amelia’s blunt look at the human world—especially that of 1800s New York—provided great contrast and I enjoyed her view on the world. A bit of the drama felt a little forced, and possibly the ending rushed, but overall a fun read (and I’m excited to read more by Christina Henry!).

Excellent book. I really liked the story and appreciated the ending. These fairytale retellings are all so different. The author approaches each one from a new perspective and keeps it fresh each time. I'll read every retelling she feels like writing.

It started out deliciously. One of my favorite books of all time is “The Animal Family” by Randall Jarrell, and this was definitely giving those vibes at the beginning.
It ended up being a good, solid book, but not great overall. I most likely will not re-read it, which is unusual for me.
