The characters feel developed and had distinct personalities and agency. Really touching relationships at the center and with side characters. A little annoyed with the ending twist but overall a good read. Loved the honest and upfront nature of the characters discussing their emotions and thoughts. Would definitely read again.

Loved this book!! Kind of reminded me of the people we meet on vacation by emily henry in the aspect of soulmates and lacking communication being a big deal, which is frustrating to read about but I understood the lack of communication in this story so much more! I also just finished The Unhoneymooners (also by Christina Lauren) and Love and Other Words is SO much better!!! It’s got wonderful characters and a great hook with a wonderful ending as well. The middle was kind of slow though so it was hard to get through but worth it. VERY sad! Lots of trigger warnings. Cute story/book though.

Tragic and beautiful and hopeful.

The pacing of this tale was perfect. Even with Elliott’s ability to say exactly how he feels at any moment (we can’t help but stan), there was no rush with this romance. Eleven years has passed, so what’s one more day? This tale felt realistic even in its tragedy and overwhelming coincidences.

I devoured Love & Other Words in five hours. Stunning.

After not having luck with Christina Lauren's books, I told myself I wouldn't read any more from them. But, I continued to see this one all over, so I decided to give it a try.

I definitely think this is their most cohesive novel in terms of the writing. It wasn't obvious that the book had been written by two people, which is what I had a hard time with when reading their other books. I've seen this compared to EVERY SUMMER AFTER by Carley Fortune, but I have to say I liked ESA more. It took me so long to read this and I think it could have been 100ish pages shorter. This was a book completely centered around miscommunication. Like all books with this trope, all they had to do was talk to each other. But no, let's go years not talking because we have different interpretations of how things went down between us. 🙄😑 I liked the Then chapters more than the Now chapters. I probably won't read another Christina Lauren book, but never say never.

I love this book! The characters, the character development, the writing, everything! Even though it's downright heartbreaking at times, in the end I would still consider it a comforting and cozy read. Would recommend for my fellow lonely fellows 😭
