πŸ“š I've so missed Brosh's ability to draw out the absurd in everyday, mundane situations.
πŸ“š Her drawings are just as goofy and giggle-inducing as ever.
πŸ“š She's also able to turn on a dime and transform a silly childhood anecdote into an exploration of mortality and love.
πŸ“š Unfortunately, a lot of the chapters seemed to tail off with no real conclusions, I felt like a lot of them needed one more page to wrap up the thought.

I was so excited when I happened to see this on the shelf (at a grocery store of all places). It is definitely more serious in tone and overall content than Hyperbole and a Half. I really appreciate Allie Brosh’s candid and honest approach to writing/drawing about her mental health, and thought that this book was a beautiful sophomore release from her.

This book was, for my sense of humor, very funny and absolutely worth the wait.

In fact, it was JUST the thing I needed in 2020 when, I think we can all agree, the world is going to hell in a hand basket and if you think something is bad it could ALWAYS be worse. I needed this book because I really needed to laugh myself to tears, to not being able to turn the page until I took ten deep breaths. SOLUTIONS AND OTHER PROBLEMS provided exactly that release.

This book is absurd, weird, funny, and absolutely consistent with Allie's brand. The art is true to style, there are some short pieces and some long pieces, some heavy pieces and some ridiculous pieces. If you like her blog or liked her first book, you are absolutely going to love her second book. If you're not sure if you like her art or if her sense of humor is compatible with yours, I'd recommend checking out the preview story "Richard" on her blog hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com. If it's not amusing in anyway, this book is probably not for you.

But, if it is... this book will make you laugh, make you cry, and make you remember that there's some good in this world worth fighting for.

This is a book about grief, and humor, and pain, and emotional fallout, and resilience, and anger, and how ridiculous the world is, and trying to like yourself, what comes after things that are awful and difficult. It is wildly funny at times, like her last work, but it's not lighthearted. I would definitely 1000% recommend it, but go in prepared for some hard stuff because it is in here. I'm really glad I got to read it. <3
