Okay I had to change the rating to 4 stars because after raving about it to a friend earlier, I realized despite my issues, I really love this book. Months after finishing this it still lives in my head. The epitome of real life horror that really gets me. Some horrific imagery here that has continued to stick with me. I guess I just love ridiculously violent books lol. Southern gothic archetypes done right. Amazing narrative voice. Great structure with interesting characters and interwoven plots. Also this book has inspired me a lot in my own writing!
Needless graphic SA took it down from a 5 star but this book was fantastic besides that.

there's just something about hyper violent southern horror and multiple characters/storylines that all intertwine at some point that drives me INSANE

Gruesome and graphic. Not my cup of tea for the subject matter but so well written. Characters are all fairly well rounded but the timeline and story were so interesting.
