What a gripping tale of psychological torture meets Stranger Things demons. I loved this story. The characters are so detailed! I had to keep reminding myself that these were not actual people! Maybe it's because I'm a psychiatric nurse, but I wasn't scared of this book in the same way that traditional horror makes me scared. This book made me think and linger on the story long after I had put it down for the day. Throughout the story, I kept reflecting on the psychiatric back story of Jack Torrence and I could understand how someone so broken could come to answer to such a powerful demon like the hotel. All and all, I think another masterpiece from Mr. King.

If I had any kind of “shine”, I just simply would not. No offense to Danny, but I’m different.

For me it was really, the blatant racism and use of the n word, the misogyny, the toxic masculinity, it was just yucky. Also the story was kind of meh and it wasn’t even scary.
