challenging emotional sad tense slow-paced

3.0

This wasn't a horrible book but it's the least favorite out of all the books I've ever read.

I felt it went way to slow and didn't start picking up until about 75% of the way into the book, which also happens to be the part where it gets really sad.

The characters were okay. Damon was a favorite of mine. I felt bad for him most of the book because of how cold Nell seemed towards him when he just kept falling deeper for her despite the clear set rules for their relationship. But I felt the book redeemed itself enough to get 3 stars from me in the last quarter of the book when we find out exactly why Nell feels and acts the way she does when she had to think about relationships.

Of course Logan and Chloe were still as great as they were in their own book. Logan is still just as sweet as he was in his story, and Chloe really is the sweetest friend to both Nell and Damon but especially towards Nell. I'd absolutely love to have friends as great as Logan and Chloe are.

I will say it gets pretty heavy really quick around 3/4 of the way in. Which I guess could stem from the fact that what happened, happened so suddenly. I honestly almost didn't finish the story with how slow the first 3/4 of the book was and how anxious I felt. But I definitely recommend that if like me you feel you can't get through it that you push through because the end really is the best part.
