It seems a beautiful day in the Enchanted Village, yet Darcy has a bad feeling that trouble is coming, and her instincts are proven right when she and her friend Cherise discover the body of Cherise's realtor, Raina Gallagher, upstairs in the Tavistock house. The house had only recently come on the market when its reclusive owner died. Rumors of hidden jewels from a famous heist decades ago have brought treasure hunters out of the woodwork, and Darcy must figure out whether they have anything to do with the murder.

The fifth installment of the Wishcraft Mystery series is just as fun as the first four. There is less in the way of character development in this one, but the main characters are still multi-dimensional, which I very much appreciate.

The plot twists kept me from guessing the killer, although I am pretty sure have figured out who the dove and The Elder are. I am looking forward to the next book in the series to confirm whether I'm right and what that will mean!

For readers' advisors: story doorway is primary, character & setting secondary. I only remember one swear word, otherwise it's totally a "clean read."

I'm burning through this series almost faster than I'd like, dang it. This book follows Darcy on yet another murder case. This time it's for the murder of a real estate agent. I was a bit annoyed at how dense Darcy can be, but you can attribute that to lack of sleep, being busy and distracted, etc. For a small village, there is a LOT going on! Glinda is turning out to be one of those characters that you REALLY want to dislike, but it's turning out that she might have some good in her, like when she's around Mimi. (Dang it all to heck.) Evan is still fun and this time he's got a slightly bigger role. Starla! Oh my gosh, Starla. I'm all for wanting to be independent, but gads, I feel bad for Vince. This book had me laughing out loud several times. There were the usual bouts of predictability, but as always, the ending doesn't disappoint. It's going to be hard when I finish the series. (It's got a real, "You want to find out what's happening, but at the same time you don't want it to be over" feel to it.) I'm at the point where I want Darcy to just FIND OUT ALREADY the stuff I've already guessed at. I mean, geez! Have more coffee and pull your head out of the clouds and see what's right in front of you! Crazy!

I really enjoyed this installment of Darcy's life. Lots of movement happened by the end of the book which makes me excited for the next one. I have an inkling of who the elder is. Hope I'm right!

First Thought when Finished: Some like it Witchy by Heather Blake was my favorite one in the series so far!

Quick Thoughts: I was wrong about who did it! DANG IT! Though to be honest that is how I like my mysteries-- a little twisty. I love the Wishcraft series and this was the strongest one of the bunch. Of course, all the crazy antics of Darcy (or more the people surrounding her) is what makes these golden. They are zany, twisty, and this one in particular went on a wild ride. I thought I had it figured out but then bam another curve. If you like cozies then I would totally recommend this as one to pick up!

Audio Thoughts:
Narrated By Coleen Marlo / Length: 7 hrs and 58 mins

Coleen is one of my favorite narrators. She just nails characters that have that extra bit of oomph to their personality. She has excellent pacing and emotional range too. I would totally recommend this on audio!

I have been working on catching up on some of the series that I am behind on. The Wishcraft Mystery series is one and I am so happy I finally made the time to read this installment. Heather Blake is one of my favorite authors and I always enjoy her books. The characters in this series feel like old friends and it is a joy to stop in and see what they are up to this time around. Darcy is a great protagonist. She is so warm hearted and I love the relationship with her sister Harper. The mystery in this story was solid. There were plenty of suspects to choose from and some twists and turns I didn't see coming. In fact, I was surprised by the culprit and how that person fit into the mystery.

A book by Heather Blake never disappoints. She has a wonderful writing style that just transports the reader into the story and allowing them to lose themselves in the characters and the mystery. I have one more to go and then I will be caught up before the next installment is released.
